    Hi Divya,

I like ilia, Beauty Counter, and RMS beauty. All are very good, clean makeup brands. I especially like ilia’s concealer! https://iliabeauty.com/products/balos-st3

Lia Ices is a friend of a friend who lives in NorCal. Her Family Album album is so soulful. “Hymn” is an especially beautiful song on the album. Hope you enjoy ?

I am so encouraged by this post and the general sentiment in these threads about collaboration, community, and creatively supporting each other in making this transition onto more land and into more a sovereign lifestyle. I am also very open and interested in opportunities to do this with others in Northern CA.

Those of us in Nor Cal…it would be awesome to organize a meet-up one of these days to connect in person!

Hi all, this is also a desire of mine to start building connections with those in Northern CA that want to live rural and/or in some type of community, whatever that looks like based on how needs and the bigger world situation evolves.

I am in Winters, CA, a small farming community outside of the Davis area. I think it is a great idea to start this conversation and keep in touch with each other. Whether is it before or after shit hits the fan, our collective intention and practical ideas will move us in this direction. It sounds like there are several of us in the greater Northern CA area!

Thank you so much Hugh! Very helpful. It looks like I already have the CLBC from Obama’s example. I was thinking I would need to obtain my actual birth record, rather than a certified copy with my name in all CAPS. But it sounds like this is not necessary.

If there are any California Nationals in this group that have any input on this, I would appreciate it! I do not personally know any.
Thanks again for the Badwolf links. I have been consuming a lot of information from his videos and am learning a lot!

    Hi Rachael!

Do you know whether you will be planning to have a home birth or a hospital birth?

I had 2 home births, and my midwives recorded a detailed record of live birth – the newborn’s vitals, date, time of birth, weight, and their signatures. This record is my true record of live birth for my children. If one wanted to (which you likely don’t!) the next step would be to take that to the Vital Records and apply for a “Birth Certificate”.

If you are birthing your baby in a hospital, they should record a record of live birth in your child’s medical chart, but they will whisk this away and file for a Birth Certificate for you – usually having you fill out that paperwork on the spot, and then they “kindly” take care of that process for you. So if in a hospital, be sure to get that copy of your child’s live birth record, and do not fill out the paperwork for a “Birth Certificate”.

Hope that helps. Good for you on thinking about this in advance, your baby is blessed to have you as his/her guardian!

I use an Above phone, have had one for about a year and a half. It runs on grapheneOS. It’s been a learning curve for me to transition to (mostly) open-source versions of apps, but I have really been impressed with what Ramiro is doing, and his promptness in answering every question on his Telegram support group. I also use a faraday bag anytime the phone is not in use. I really like your suggestion of the second phone, super smart.

This is an awesome chart, Amber. Ignorant question, but what is the definition of a “bridge month?”

Hugh, I am looking into how to authenticate my birth certificate. I have certified copies of my “Certificate of Live Birth”, but in California that seems to be what they issue as a “Birth Certificate”. I am just starting the process of changing my status by applying for a passport under “national” status, but am looking for exact directions for how to authenticate my birth certificate. Any pointers here, or resources that spell it out?

    Thanks!

Amber, I love your depth of knowledge…you have really walked the path yourself it sounds like, for yourself and with your daughter. YES to the tongue tie…I work with a speech language pathologist who specializes in myofunctional therapy, and we work closely with Dr. Zaghi, one of the premier Otolaryngologists who specializes in tongue tie releases. We have seen miraculous results in kids post tongue release – sleep, breathing/airway, language, posture, gross motor, sensory….the list goes on and on. It all originates in our head and mouth!
