DonnaMemberHi Ann-Marie,
I was being kind of silly. I wasn’t fearful of the page to give consent to AI and my medical records. It was more annoying to see we are asked if we want AI doing our medical records. Like, what?! At 78 years of age this AI stuff is very concerning and it seems to be taking over very rapidly “like it can do that by itself.” Why are some doubting the safety of AI? Don’t you think we have reason to be very cautious? I do. A friend of mine says, well, people used to be afraid of using checks, a credit card (like my parents) and then they found out it was so convenient and fun. Along came debit cards. Now you can pay online, order online. Very fun actually. Will we be sucked into AI too? Lots of questions!

DonnaMemberHi Ann-Marie,
Mike made a good comment about AI. My nephew who works in the computer field tells me AI is a good thing, just another way to program computers. He thinks I worry too much. I’ve never been an avid movie watcher, but I did see years ago the 2002: A Space Odyssey. When I think of AI, it reminds me of Hal, and so I have doubts about AI. 🤨 Time will tell. For now, I’m not going to pursue using it. We could make a list of pros and cons. I still like talking to a real person when I call to make an appointment. At 78, I remain rather old fashioned. I still remember, and love, the old days when I dialed a number on my landline and a real lady said “Number please.” Or you had to dial O for operator to ask to look up a number.

DonnaMemberToday I went to a family clinic to get a blood draw. It was the first time being at this family health clinic so I had to fill out the usual paperwork, which includes all the HIPPA stuff. For the first time ever there was an extra sheet of paper asking me if I agree to the use of AI with my health and medical records. I did not sign this sheet and told the young receptionist I didn’t want to sign it and give my consent. She smiled and said it’s okay, and kindly let me know it’s technology advancing. I wasn’t fearful of AI doing this, as it appears to be taking over “all by itself.” ha
As long as I’m asked whether I ant AI or not, I will say no.
