Hi Marcus. I am a physician and have prescribed Alinia for almost 20 years now. It is technically an anti-parasitic medicine and is one of the safest medicines. I have had tremendous success with Alinia and for something like Blastocystis, it is something I would consider as first line therapy. It does not seem to interfere with gut microbiome balance. My advice is to ask your doctor about high dose Alinia use. The “regular” dose is 500mg twice a day and I have found way better results using 1000mg twice a day for a cycle of 2 weeks on/ 2 weeks off for a few cycles. It does turn the skin/bodily fluids/whites of the eyes yellow/orange. This is due to a metabolite of the medicine, NOT because it is causing any type of jaundice.
