hi Krista 🙂 – when a beloved 400 year old (rare due to ithe rarity of this ancient heirloom species – I guess – I don’t know tree-minology) maple tree on the ‘stead started to have issues I called a tree nonprofit / arboretum near me and the lady was super nice. She asked for pictures of the tree to figure out what kind it was as the first step. Before sending stuff to a lab (or if nobody has any ideas on here – you may want to just reach out to an organization near you with the same expertreeees 🙂 keep us posted on your gnarly situation.? Rip bird bath though – yikes – acid rain!?

I’ve made the reverse shape (parabolic) with paper and stuck a microphone inside the pointy end of the cone..and could hear a conversation happening across a field…so I don’t see why the inverse in stone form wouldn’t be powerful

Yes parachute is great! Back when I was working in Boston I’d been so healthy and had gotten everything so dialed- even down to my fabrics and hygiene…then life got crazy and I went American white trash and started shopping at Walmart and dealing with mold so the one investment that I made with parachute got bleached so you can identify it below: instead of gray it lost its dye and is pink. Jed is always like: why are we using this? What’s so special about it? And I’m like/: look at it! And the cat is all..:cuddling and purring on it. I guess some people aren’t attuned to the pure seemingly living force energy of natural textiles. I’ve copied the receipts from Meetra and Linenography on Etsy and parachute. if I were doing it again I may actually start with a consignment shop and then Etsy and then…only as a last resort an evil overpriced manufacturing plant. Crate and barrel, for example, had a big sale a while back…apparently the linens in that sale around Christmas were 100% linen. What I find from places like “lily silk” is that they are doing something sneaky – as though the silk, cashmere or linen is woven onto some kind of a synthetic frame-like matrix made out of elastic or something.

Side note: our daily sheets are cotton flannel from Walmart. They are just white and supposed to be %100 cotton…although they are not organic or LLBean quality and at first they shed in the dryer and on the bed basket balls worth of material…they only cost $5 for a king set with pillow cases! I feel like a set of sheets that are used that are completely made out of cotton are actually a pretty great stand-in for linen since most linen is just rough or exorbitant or treated with sketchy ish chemicals.

https://www.etsy.com/shop/LINENGRAPHY is pretty awesome! Meetralinen is ok, and this is the parachute sheet which the price is actually about the same since 2017 (mine was on sale ~$100

Nothing you share about these beauties will ever be spam, Kelly!!! I want to know every detail and learn as much as I can! Ya’ll are amazing!!!!!!!!! ? I can’t find the “milk share” website or a farm offering near me and I’ve been basically just googling and emailing to find a farm that will let me invest in a cow in exchange for learning about them, paying for upkeep and drinking the raw milk…apparently that’s a thing in some places but perhaps big milk industry is hiding the google results and big pharma/cdc doesn’t want people to find a work around for raw milk…

I’d begged Jed to consider a miniature cow but it’s the whole knocking her up part that seems weird. (Well that and I’m wholly unqualified so it would be irresponsible at this point to have a cow…but whatever. details…;))

Apparently some of the miniatures are actually also like..drafting animals…so I tried to convince him using that angle as well…I’m the one who literally has to have milk at all times in the house in order to survive.

Their milk must taste like pure heaven, Kelly!?

Chickens love activities and people. I’m pretty sure that if I took a hike every day into all of the swampy nooks and crannies of this one acre property they would gladly follow behind me.

At confluence I met someone who warned me to have redundancies with their water and food because it’s so easy for them to knock something over and starve. All this to say: someone not far from you already has chickens (or wants them) and it takes a village! If I go to M&S I hope that my neighbor and a guy I met on freedom cells will be willing to come over and hang with them!

Apparently there is a cow share website and this is how I plan to approach learning about and getting milk. (I have to find the note from confluence when Molly E. Mentioned the site…)

Also – if you go on YouTube there are tons of house pet chickens. There are chicken diapers and people make it look so easy. They are basically puppies that provide food ?

There are dandelions everywhere in MA – I guess the landscaper finally got the memo that they aerate the soil and help people deal with things like cancer…whereas roundup simply causes cancer…

Def what pops-up in your vicinity is Exactly what you need…nature seems to know.

I love “back in my day” sentiments…and I appreciate your poem very much. And, hi Bro Kev:) – I hope that you are feeling a bit better James? How frustrating to be going through a healing crisis. Don’t panic! Everything resolves.

I had to eat eggplants since they kept showing up in my csa and I sliced a dozen of them – dipped them in my chickens eggs – and then a bunch of herbs – fried them and froze them to have as microwaveable snacks – and I kept wondering why I’d feel like sorta’ happy after eating them – I think I’m going to eat more eggplant ? and grow some if possible / I pile the fairytale delicate little ones and I love cauliflower instead of bread. – I’ve gotta’ start making from scratch cauliflower crust pizzas and freezing them

I think the idea of “food is your medicine” is supposed to be that we don’t need to eat all that often (intermittent fasting and stuff) but when we do it should be purposeful and treat what your body is needing to heal.

Once again, thank you for sharing this.
