“RSO” with the Salt added back in, basically.

Ben Balderson turned me on to this idea. Although it’s not in any of the traditional methods out there that I learned from, it makes a hell of a lot of sense.

A marriage of (High) Feminine, or Sulfur, and (Low) Masculine, or Salt, with Mercury in the MIDDLE as the bridge, is a beautiful way of looking at it. But it “grinds the gears” a bit when you consider the 3 constituent parts traditionally in a manner of volatility, Spirit/Mercury being the most Volatile, or “highest”.

Anyway, I haven’t tried it yet. Wondering about a few of the particulars I’ll get into later if there are any takers on this topic!

    Thanks!

I’m in! I hadn’t heard about Ben before, so I went looking through his stuff to see if I could learn about what you’re saying here. Alas, it will take a bit longer than a quick dive to find, so I’ll keep looking.

I’m rather new to this (aiming to have a very basic lab setup by spring) but I’d love to know more about what you’re talking about in this post. Keep me in the loop please!

Hey Steven ?. Good to hear from ya/nice to meet ya! I’m still a beginner myself, with some practical experience, in a very humble “lab” (aka my kitchen lol).
Ben’s philosophy may be a bit tough to find a clip of him breaking it down, but its definitely out there!
Going a bit more into it; Spirit removes Soul, so probably not the best thing to consume internally for a human. So, when used as a solvent to remove the Soul/Sulfur from the Body in a plant, it has served its purpose and can be removed from the process. Then, the marriage of Masculine Body/Salt and Feminine Soul/Sulfur polarities can go down.

Again, I have not done this practically yet. I could see some definite issues with the Salt dissolving properly in the thick Sulfur if not properly purified.

But as a metaphor/philosophy its perfect, it its own way. When thinking of Mercury as the figure eight, in the middle (traditionally where Sulfur/Soul is), facilitating the marriage of the two polarities.

Looking forward to hearing more, man! Cheers!

OOOOOH ok, when you put it that way I know what you mean! That’s something I’ve heard of myself from a philosophical standpoint, not so much in lab workings, though it does make sense. Was there anything specific you were thinking of making in this way?

Yes I’d like to try this with local Sage and at some point with Cannabis/Hemp. Really high oil in both of these which makes it a heck of a lot of fun and the smells are awesome.

      How bout yourself?

Ah yes Cannabis would be a good one! I love working with Nettles, so I’ll give that a try. I just moved to a new area last year, and I’m slowly getting acquainted with the local foliage. So there will be more added to that list soon enough!

    Hel All!

Good to see this discussion happening. I’d suggest backing up a bit to understand how the 2 volatile elements of Fire/Hydrogen/Hot-Dry & Air/Nitrogen/Hot-Wet, and the fixed elements of Water/Oxygen/Cold-Wet & Earth/Carbon/Cold-Dry create the three attributes of Sulfur/Fire-Air, Mercury/Air-Water & Salt/Fire-Earth from a Biochemical, Elemental & Metaphysical level.

This will assist both laboratory mechanics & “the Great Work”. Sulfur is the individual Will force that employs Mercury & Salt to precipitate matter & experience, while the Mercury-Solvent liberates the Sulfur from impurities that would otherwise impede the action of our medicines, or the Divine Will from manifesting in our experience.

Spagyrics is two-fold: 1) Mechanical lab processes, and 2) the operator connecting through resonance to the purification-elevation sequence. The mechanical only will produce superior extracts, but the Spiritual practice will greatly enhance both medicinal properties and personal evolution.

Thanks for the suggestion Barre, I’ll do so!

That is what excited me so much about Alchemy. The chance to combine something I love – working with plants – with a spiritual path

Although, I do find that I’m lacking a little in the spiritual connection aspect of it. It’s such a massively dense subject, with so many connections to other disciplines, like the various energy works, astrology, etc. and with so many writings to dig through. I’m not sure if I’m not reading the right materials or if the connections are just flying over my head.

I know I’m new to this and like anything it takes time, so I’m not worried about not making those connections right away. It’s just something I’ve picked up on during my studies so far

Thanks for joining in, Doc! (So appreciated to have direct contact an experienced teacher)

I started with, and value the traditional way, but I do see how Ben’s method has it’s own value after chewing on it a while.

“Spiritual” in its present use is a loaded term implying that certain things and people are more elevated than the rest of us. There is no such thing as less or non-Spiritual, and Alchemy is a wonderful practice that proves this out. I like to think of Spiritual practice as a reprieve from the programmed Maya, which in time permanently shifts the perception to what already is. The most Spiritual practice of all is having fun, and that’s my personal reason for engaging in the “Great Work”.

Is that what it implies? I always used it as a catch all term to encompass inner work and developing a connection to the Source. I can definitely see how people would use it to create false hierarchies though (“I’M more spiritual than YOU”). I’ll remember not to let myself fall into that trap.

I can get behind that! If you’re not having fun, then it’s not speaking to your soul. The Great Work should be about leading a more fulfilling life, not something you have to force yourself to do
