We have a homestead in central New York currently, however, there doesn’t seem to be any like-minds (that we know of) in the area. Our son is only 5 months, but we are trying to prepare for the future and make sure all of his social needs are met and homeschool groups are nearby. We’d really like to surround him with other families that align with our values, such as all of you in this group. We are willing to relocate if it comes down to it. We have Sandpoint, ID on our minds, but we haven’t visited yet… just seeing if anyone else has experienced the culture in that area and/or has suggestions for a homeschool/aware hub that seems on the same frequency. Many thanks!

I’ve heard that area is pretty awesome for free thinkers but also getting pricey! Nevada City, CA is another spot. There’s some cool awake families up here where we are at but it’s pretty remote and can be rough living for anyone used to the modern comforts of your typical town or city…

Appreciate your insight, Mike! We live pretty rurally now and enjoy it. I read you are creating a community with Music and Sky on one of your latest posts … we are looking forward to updates. Also, looking forward to making the festival some year!

Awesome! I attempted to become a member a few days ago and it said my account needs to be activated. It’s under rachaelbraunius, email fruituition@gmail.com. Thanks!

Sorry Rachael, just seeing this! You should be good to go over there though.

Hi Rachael. I am definitely interested to see if anyone has more to say on this thread. We moved down to Southwestern VA (in Floyd county) from the DC area to start homesteading and find like-minded families. We are finding some of those, and may be getting some momentum to start our own homeschool co-op for freedom-minded families. Not long ago, though, Sand Point entered my awareness because of some Waldorf-inspired schools that have been started there which are steering away from the woke-ness of the regular Waldorf system. I would also be happy to hear about vibrant homeschool/co-op/Waldorf-inspired communities for like-minded families wherever they may be, if anyone has more to share.
