Long time listen, first time caller (writer). My wife and I are expecting our first child soon, and I am trying to do my part to find quality medical care. If anyone happens to know of a great pediatrician in Austin, Texas (or surrounding area), your advice would be greatly appreciated.

Unless you find that one in a million pediatrician who isn’t really an MD, but just has the letters and does Naturopathy or something, there isn’t anything good about medical care 🙂
I would recommend a chiropractor that adjusts neonates. Added super bonus if s/he can come to your home. Those first few days can be a wild ride and an adjustment or 2 was all each of my babies needed. We’ve never seen a ped, and they’re wildly robust.

Congrats! I can ask a few friends in town there if they know of a good naturopath or osteopath. I’d be very wary of an MD as they are super pushy with the vaccines and can make things more stressful than it’s worth it!

Michelle, I am happy to hear that both of your children are healthy and robust. I would have never thought to see a chiropractor for a baby – thank you for the suggestion!

Mike, any boots-on-the-ground recommendations would be very much appreciated; we would like to avoid any pushy vaccine salesmen if possible! Listening to Dr. Larry Palevsky was the springboard to many other helpful resources while preparing for parenthood.

For any parents in the Austin area,

I can now (highly) recommend Dr. Kristen Roeder at Caritas Pediatrics and Wellness. Don’t let the “Doctor” title turn you off – she is very aware of all the dangers typically associated with the medical system.
