“Blessed hummingbird, come and sing to me.. Remind me of your ancient song that plays always”.. Well, I think I just found a nice call-out to the hummer that comes a-chirpin’ around my balcony.. Lol.. And isn’t funny about some singers — you look at them and can’t imagine that voice comes out of them.. I’m wondering and guessing she’s got some soulful songs a little more on the gritty side, maybe??.. Loved this one.. ?

Oh, I like this.. Country is my jam.. Something about his quality is reminding me strongly of a popular recording artist (someone you’d hear on the radio).. I can’t put my finger on who he’s reminding me of… hmmmm…

One of my favorites — “Wayfaring Stranger”, an early 19th-century American folk song.. This rendition is by Adam Chance (of Home Free), in collaboration with a couple named The Hound & The Fox.. Harmonies!

My favorite song by one of my favorite country artists, Craig Morgan.. Have always loved the lyrics in the chorus — inspired nature imagery, so beautiful and so simple.. ?

One of my favorite groups — Home Free, a five-man acapella group covering “Helplessly Hoping” by Crosby, Stills & Nash.. As always with this group, the arrangement and harmonies are mind-bending.. Headphones recommended.. ?

My favorite piece of classical music — Symphony No. 9, “From the New World”, by Antonin Dvorak.. The English horn solo in the second movement is truly one of the best things I’ve ever heard.. Gets me every time.. ?

Yes, Puff the Magic Dragon is a sweet song (nobles and kings etc notwithstanding). I wonder if you’d appreciate my Puff the Magic Virus on my songpage? Doing a search of the page for “Puff” will take you right to it.

random sync, I used to work with the ex-manager of this band…dude named Howard Mann. He had a throne in his LA home and supposedly had his hands on unreleased Michael Jackson stems (as he was good friends with the family and always said that Michael was murdered)… the guy was a bit shady and a total character, like out of the flick Boogie Nights or a Coen Bros movie haha oh those were the weirdest days…

Haha I always wondered if those types of dudes really existed! To have your own throne though… that’s pretty outrageous. Sounds like you’ve lived quite the interesting life good sir!

One of my favorite pieces of music.. “Agnus Dei” — Samuel Barber’s choral arrangement of his original work “Adagio for Strings”.. Dramatic climax up in this one.. (Only 8 minutes long).. Hope y’all enjoy..

Oh, so nice to hear you liked this!.. This is indeed one of my favorite pieces of “classical” music (probably ranked #2 after Dvorak’s New World Symphony).. And this is sooo much more satisfying than the original it’s based upon (“Adagio for Strings”).. There are many choral versions to be found, and different interpretations (in terms of meter, balance of voices, and dynamics, etc.).. The key for me is good vocal balancing and the climax about three-quarters through the piece.. Some interpretations don’t quite “make that happen” the way I like, but this version is pretty good.. It’s freakin’ glorious..

I’ve long imagined arranging this piece for a brass ensemble with percussion.. When it starts to take off, the percussion in fact would be wailing away, at times in high-paced triple time.. Hard to explain what goes on in my head, but it would be way different than what you hear here.. ?

I’ve yet to get my hands on the choral notation, and brush up on music theory, but maybe, someday, I’ll get to that.. The percussion part will have to be a collaboration with someone who knows that world.. ?

And yes, it is cathertic, and the tears flow..

What is the high resolution version you speak of??

I loved this version. The purity of the voices, the exquisite arrangement, for me, this is heaven.

There is a streaming music service called Qobuz that I subscribe to. Wide variety of genres. Their focus, where it’s available is on high resolution versions. For this version of the Agnus Dei, they have a 24 bit 96k copy. The clarity of the upper ranges really stands out.

Hmm, yes, I can empathize. Music composition was my focus in school many moons ago. It’s very enjoyable to imagine and explore new musical vistas.

Ah yes, the clarity of the vocal ranges is very important with this piece, indeed.. Some interpretations have bits that are “missing” to me, and because I know they could/should be there, it can fall flat for me, or it’s disappointing.. and there is another version somewhere on YouTube that has excellent emphasis on the baritone/bass parts that’s quite strong, grounded, and glorious (I played tuba and have a natural affinity for those parts of a composition).. I might hunt that one down again.. At the very least, this conversation has compelled me to press play on this one today, right now.. ?

But I also understand what you say about the clarity of the upper ranges, and how that could come through with a high definition recording.. This piece has incredible soprano at times that just pierces through, but if the audio is off, it can be a bit distorted..
