Slug Spray.. This is a natural spray for slug control based on Garlic.. This guy also adds Onion, Cayenne, and members of the mint family.. I was thinking about that recently, how slugs don’t go near mint family members full of aromatic volatile oils.. You could use any of those for sure — Mint, Rosemary, Oregano, Lavender, Agastaches, Salvias, maybe Lemon Balm.. For sure I’d blend this in a blender before steeping in water, and use fresh undried ingredients..

The spray also deters aphids, 4-legged critters (who often don’t like mints), and is a fungicide for fruit trees.. Good to know and very worth trying..

I’ve found sheep fleece really useful in protecting against slugs too. Our local veg box scheme insulates the fridge products with it so I just order lots of hummous when I’m in need! Though the slugs last season were insanely out of control cos it rained in the UK for about 18 months solid. Veg growing is my new found delight, I can’t explain how happy it makes me 😁

Hmmm, I wonder what it is about sheep fleece that slugs don’t like.. I bet it’s the lanolin!.. 😀

Big fan of David the Good and the way he creates self-contained, regenerating systems, where external inputs aren’t necessary, and his emphasis on growing as much biomass as you can and choppin’ n droppin’.. as well as emphasis on resiliency and locally-adapted landrace species.. Very easy-going approach, working within a natural system..

Worth watching, especially if you’re not a master veggie gardening.. I’ve gleaned quite a bit from this guy.. 36 veg to sow in January, in the cold regions of the northern hemisphere.. (19min)..
