Group Description
A group to chat, connect and share knowledge on homeopathy. This group is intended to be a GENERAL homeopathy group – where we can ask questions on books, remedy dosing, where to find remedies, posts about interesting anecdotes, top remedies for certain acute conditions etc.
Due to the individualised nature of homeopathy, it’s not possible to provide specific homeopathy advice for chronic health ailments, via this group, because homeopathy is always about treating the individual which requires a full case history to be taken.

Todd & KateParticipantHi there! Wondering about using mint in oral care while also taking homeopathic remedies as needed. We’ve read that mint/camphor should never be used while taking homeopathic remedies because the mint antidotes the remedies. Can anyone expand on this for us? Best practices? How much time in between? Tissue salts are fine with mint, though, right? Any difference if using isopathic homeopathy? … Thanks for any tips here. Much appreciated!

KevMemberGreat question, or inquiry.. It then begs the question as to what other things may act as antidotes to homeopathic remedies.. Such as herbal tinctures & teas circulating in our systems, and in my case I use a toothpaste with cinnamon oil, and possibly others in there (tea tree maybe).. would have to look at the label again..
I’ve been frustrated recently, as I’ve had great success with homeopathy, but several things I did recently did *not* work, at all.. I’ve had a nasty skin rash with itch (and textured bumps) — it was something that emerged 2 years ago as I went through an intense chlorine dioxide (MMS) protocol.. It persisted for a long time, then dissipated.. then when I experienced relative kidney dysfunction/failure recently, the rash came back like a bashee.. I looked into several remedies, and found there were 4 that were perfect in their own rights, especially some of them being directly connected to organ dysfunction, or blockages in organs.. I tried them all separately, with no success — Thuja, Berberis, Sulfur, Apis..
I couldn’t really tell, but I did question if the condition was getting worse — i.e. I was proving, but that didn’t make since on the surface.. I have faith, or at the least the hunch, that homeopathic remedies, when targeting symptoms, if you have the correct remedy, will naturally “know” where to go to address the underlying cause.. I wonder if I didn’t have success, or if things were made worse, if the remedies weren’t matching the underlying source cause, or if there was an antidote present I wasn’t identifying.. That’s where a deeply experienced homeopathic professional with multidimensional thinking and good pattern recognition appears to be absolutely vital or essential.. But, for example, Berberis is perfect for blockages in the organs (kidneys) as well as skin itching, and sandy and slightly-green urine (all of which I had).. but no effect at all..
This is all more complex and nuanced to me now beyond “take this remedy for this symptom”.. that’s linear..
So yeah, awareness of antidotes, or what might hinder remedies..

Todd & KateMemberThanks, Kev… We had been following the advice not to use mint when taking homeopathics. I got some Siberian cedar tree resin to use instead of breath mints, and we removed mint from our teeth powder formula. We really enjoy mint, though, and it grows vibrantly all around us, and has such an attractive smell & taste. So, we’d love to continue a relationship with mint. Homeopathy is also important to us. Tissue salts are the only homeopathics we are taking daily. Isopathics and homeopathics we take for acute symptoms. … I just got the AV oral care duo, and saw that there’s peppermint in them, so I just thought I’d look into the whole mint/homeopathy connection, and how to navigate all that so hopefully my fam and I can keep using both without antidoting the remedies. Just thinking there’s got to be a way. I’ll update if I find out more. Thanks! … ~Todd

KellyMemberJust a quick comment on the remedy not working: the potency can have an impact – depending on the depth of the issue, the level of response can be different ie physical plane, mental etc – 30c is fine for an acute physical manifestation that’s a one off but may not be enough to address the mentals that were behind the physical manifestation of a chronic pattern…so if it was a one off occurrence it would be harmonized with a 30c but if it were coming from a chronic pattern, a different level would be responsible and it would need to be dealt with on a different plane. 200c can work in that instance but generally an even higher potency would be necessary for a response. That’s where I still need schooling as getting into 1Ms and LMs comes in but is very dependent on vital force energy available and provings can occur more quickly so in my experience (being guided by a homeopath) one dose (or a split dose) is taken and then we observe the impacts for a month to see what occurs – interesting returns of suppressed symptoms from 20+ years ago crop up etc…
This is coming from someone who studies a lot but not formally lol and is still being guided. Hope the info sheds some light on the remedies that didn’t elicit responses.

KevMemberThis is incredibly helpful.. I was coming to this understanding step by step, but this just sums it up, or consolidates my understanding now..
The mental and emotional have come to the fore as obvious connections to physical disease manifestations (in my case, going back to traumas at ages 3-4 even, and a lot of things since).. Because these emotions are up-front now, and at a fever-pitch at times, and these old traumas and abuses and how they’re connected in a web, and to behaviors, leading to ill health, etc.. (Trying to keep this succinct).. I’m now convinced 100% that these remedies (which don’t appears to be “working” in terms of physical manifestations), are in fact absolutely working, as I’ve been experience an accelerated release of the foundational programs and emotional traumas and memories, etc., to the point of being overwhelming.. And funny thing, and quite obvious thing — whenever the emotionals overwhelm me, and I get distraught, the physical symptoms flair up as well, and vice-versa.. Yep, that’s it.. I’d been observing this for a while.. But now the idea that homeopathics can and are unraveling it at its depths, that makes perfect sense..
This has been a long-term thing, making these connections in my awareness, but kicked in recently with my targeted use of homeopathics.. Was a bit all over the place searching for a match in terms of remedy, but at this point, I realize after reading your advice, that the “set in motion” has occurred, and I need to stop dosing and step back and ride it out.. I’m taking Berberis 200c at this point.. And regardless of the other things I “tried” recently, evidence indicates that the Berberis is freakin’ on-target.. As I’ve come to hunch recently — homeopathic remedies aren’t “take this for this condition or symptom” necessarily, but rather they “know” where to go to get to the foundation or core of the issue..
Kelly, your insights from experience made my day.. 🤸♂️

KellyMemberKev, Happy to have provided something useful! Peeling back the layers of the onion seems to be a never ending process for me in this healing journey as well and while I know it is needed, it can be overwhelming at times when I know there is still to much to learn and uncover and process from the past. I’ve recently started taking Elm Bach flower essence and it is helping me to keeping going when my overwhelm takes over and vapor locks me…it’s so comforting to know that nature has provided us with helpers in the form of plants 💓

KevMemberI’m looking forward to flower essences coming into my life.. I’ve learned not to press things, necessarily, and things do come in due time.. for sure, I’m not looking online for information.. I just can’t do the goose chasing anymore, only to get more frustrated..
But it’s really simple, if you ditch looking through the lens of any kind of system, or rules.. Flowers are everywhere, and when they speak to you, listen, and have a conversation, and maybe they’ll offer themselves to you — pick a few and do a solar infusion one afternoon, and you got a nice tea-medicine to sip on.. 🤠
And I’ve come to the same point-of-view regarding the depths of everything we need/could get down to and unravel and address, etc.. It’s just so much, in such a complex web of relationships, I don’t think it’s possible, and it’s all process anyway.. so just ride the unfolding and see where you go.. and yes, the monumentalness of it all — can overwhelm!

KellyMemberHello! It’s my understanding that the strength of the smell is what has the impact, but I have mostly only followed classical homeopathy and I know that’s not all that there is, so I may not be up to date…that said, here’s what I’ve heard:
Camphor should be avoided in all instances while under homeopathic treatment.
Mint should be moderately avoided – like, don’t brush your teeth with minty toothpaste or use minty essential oils the day that you take a remedy.
Coffee is fine so long as you’re used to having it (drinking or rectally) before you start the remedy but starting coffee may antidote when the system isn’t used to it.
I think so long as you don’t eat or drink anything other than water for 30 minutes before or after taking the remedy, it should have the time and opportunity to imprint the system. I haven’t had any antidoting occur in 4 years working with homeopathy, the only mint I’m exposed to is in AV tooth products, and I do avoid camphor.
Antidoting is just cancelling out the remedy you’ve taken so in the case that that occurs you just retake the remedy. My homeopath says that you’ll know if you’ve antidoted it if there is a change back to how you felt before you took the remedy (different than the return of past symptoms – as those would be not immediately related to what you’ve consulted the homeopath about about ie: being treated for hormonal imbalance and migraine auras occurring that haven’t occurred since the time of puberty etc; antidoting would be return of a regular mood swing that occurred premenstrually and had been occurring up until the correct remedy in the correct potency was administered).
Hope this is helpful in some way 💓
Editing to add:
Tissue salts and isopathics, as I understand them, are working more on a biochemic level than strictly the frequency/energetic, as there is more of the original substance available due to their lower potency form, so the impacts of mint would, to my mind, be less of an issue but I’m open to being corrected. Also, as tissue salts and isopathics are taken on a more frequent basis, their frequencies will constantly be reaffirmed rather than with a more classical approach of dosing a 1M potency remedy once a month whose energetic imprint isn’t regularly affirmed and the result of antidote would be more dramatically noticed.
