Hiya, my partner has shingles and is in a lot of pain. Now that there are different attitudes to the concept of “viruses” what exactly is shingles and how would other people treat it please?

    Hey Sonya

As you’re aware, a “shingles” outbreak follows a specific network of nerves, and skin symptoms, and deeper nerve pain stays confined to that area. Shingles has nothing to do with the mythical varicella zoster virus, but rather compromised nerves due to stressors from any level.

Elderly are most often afflicted, because of age-related degenerative processes leaving them more vulnerable. When these symptoms occur in younger folks there is a predisposing injury, or other stressor(s) affecting the nerves, thus, an outbreak.

An excellent nerve tonic is Tilia Tomentosa (Silver Linden) in a gemmotherapy preparation. The one I use can be found on-line from various vendors, such as: https://www.pureformulas.com/product/gemmo-tilia-tomentosa-by-unda/1000009817?skuId=SU1601&gad_source=1&gclid=CjwKCAiAmsurBhBvEiwA6e-WPEvM60k3TBJUZtJ0ZExCbMJV_-P4O6lvLeFY70UEsvBukgiB8wo3choCEUMQAvD_BwE

There are a myriad of topical preparations recommended on-line, such as Witch Hazel, Oat Baths etc that can be helpful, but until nerves are supported from the inside out topicals will be limited. Of course, identifying/dealing-with the source of stress would also be ideal. Shingles is nothing more than a word rationalized thru the “virus” theory ie. a compounding fiction, which we would term a double red herring fallacy in Classical Logic. Holler back with any questions.

The people I know who’ve had Shingles (myself included) were going through a very stressful period in their life. It’s helpful to address this factor.

Exactly! I had a personal experience myself when I was a 21 y/o football player after I sustained a shoulder injury. I kept playing (it seemed like a good idea at the time) and did further damage to the nerves. I was rewarded with “shingles”, and it was a real hoot with my shoulder pads rubbing on the area for the rest of the season … ouch!

@barre Thankyou so much for such a speedy reply, he’s been in so much pain today that we had to pull the car over because he couldn’t change gear. We’ve located some and it’s arriving tomorrow! I love linden trees, we head over to The Westwood early July every year just so that I can sniff the linden trees, the combination of the scent of the blossom and the sound of thousands of bees buzzing is glorious. And @Suzanne he has been under a large amount of time deadlines and physical stress these last three weeks, mainly down to my life and his being so kind, hopefully he can just chill now.

Hi Sonya you could add in a lysine supplement as well. My pain control go-to for adults is cbd (no thc and start low, everyone responds differently). Both lysine and cbd also promote rest. *healing thoughts*
