Listened yesterday to this conversation between Alec Zeck and Katie Hess regarding flower medicine.. This was so good and speaks my language.. So there’s a reason why I planted all those Calendula seeds a few weeks ago.. ? ..Now I can do a solar-infused extraction of the flowers, which Katie refers to as “the consciousness of the plant”, speaking to how they come into our lives and get our attention for a reason, to offer their medicine.. So spot-on.. Thought I would share:

Yep!.. And Dandelion, and “weeds” in general, have been demonized to the degree that people spray the most toxic poisons to kill them, like they’re a bad thing and need to be eradicated, or people lose their minds over it.. Complete inversion.. “They” don’t want us to have the medicine..

I am reading Evolutionary Herbalism by Sajah Popham. He talks about something like the homeopathic model: “Sympathetic medicine is based on understanding the essence of a plant and how it matches the essence of a disease, afflicted organ system, or constitution of the person. The sympathetic doctor sees patterns of relationship within the essences of people and medicines, and uses resonant forces to achieve balance.”

I am thinking there is a plant that naturally growing in my same living environment, facing the same weather, taking the same air, same EMF, but they thrive. Maybe those “weeds” are the best ally.

Spot on.. I see that too more and more now — sympathetic resonance.. Whenever there’s a bug or insect or some plant or some “weed”, I ask the question why it’s there and what purpose it serves.. Even in my patio container garden, I occasionally have some mystery seed germination, and instead of freaking out and pulling it, I leave it be to see what it will become.. There’s a message in all of it.. Though, I can’t quite come to accept the green algae growing on the soil.. I know it’s purposeful, but really??.. Lol..

Had a cool experience a while back when I was sitting at the bus stop.. Some flying bug landed on my hand, and the reflex would have been to smash it.. But I just stopped and let it be and watched it.. It crawled around on my hand for a while, and then I put a finger out from the other hand in front of it, and it accepted the offer to bridge to my other hand.. It was a little game we played with each other.. It hung out for a while and we talked a bit.. Then flew off.. There was a message there.. Can’t remember what it was.. But it’s a big shift when you start to see everything as purposeful and sympathetic or resonant in some what..

A bit of a ramble there.. but I do want to read Sajah’s book.. That sounds so spot-on to me..

Kev, I do that with bugs all the time now where a few years ago I would have swatted it away. I love telepathically communicating with animals and it dawned on me one day to show that same kindness and interest towards the insects too as they are clearly showing their interest in me by landing on me. And I also love to let the weeds grow, it’s fun and exciting to see what they will become!

I *love* watching what weeds will become when they bloom.. Weeds are often my favorites and I see beauty in their forms.. So interesting how beautiful they can be, the non-garden-variety types of plants.. These days I’ve developed a friendship with a goose that nests with his partner down on the river.. He comes & hangs out with me and we talk.. Just yesterday I waded out into the river about calf-deep and he came and swimmed up next to me and just hung out about a foot and a half away, just basking in our presence with each other.. I put out my hand, but he’s yet to touch.. no worries though, he may or may not.. And man, does he have some messages for me, just like some of the neighborhood cats.. Simple — calm down, quit thinking, and be in the moment, because the moment is what this reality actually *is*.. ?

Hey Erin!.. I wanted to share a couple photos of a wildflower growing along the street outside my apt. building.. I was captivated by these plants and their foliage and beauty before they bloomed.. I had a hunch they were gonna be amazing, and then they were!… Beautiful yellow flowers — and not the typical yellow you see with wild plants, but a soft gentle yellow you could call something like “lemon sorbet”.. Lol.. I’ve taken several cuttings of these plants and got them rooting off.. These are definitely plants gonna be a part of life going forward.. These photos are close-ups of the flowers, but you can still see the foliage, a saw-tooth like leaf, maybe something akin to Yarrow, if you will.. I’mma collect seeds too.. 🙂

Of course.. Weed lovers united!.. Lol.. And now that this plant has entered my awareness and consciousness, I see it everywhere now.. I mean, everywhere.. Wild plants are the best.. Got a snippet of Goldenrod outside my building yesterday.. and got St. Johns Wort too.. What else?.. hmmm, a few others, like Bull Thistle, Milk Thistle & Burdock.. 😆 ..There’s a war going on here locally though against the thistles and burdock.. People just need to kill ’em.. Boooooo….

Yes!!! I’ve often thought these well known herbs that grow so far away from me…. there just has to be an herb in my environment that will work the same way for me. The natives knew all this, but much of that knowledge has been lost to many.

And, as you’ve said, the local plants experience the same stressors or changes in the environment as humans do, but often the local plants adjust to these common changes before we do and can help us make the adjustment. Much better suited to us than an herb from somewhere far away, no matter how important it is said to be.

At least that is how I view it much of the time!

There are dandelions everywhere in MA – I guess the landscaper finally got the memo that they aerate the soil and help people deal with things like cancer…whereas roundup simply causes cancer…

Def what pops-up in your vicinity is Exactly what you need…nature seems to know.

Speaking of cancerous chemicals — I was walking down the street a few weeks ago and saw a guy with one of them backpacks of chemicals who was spraying it all over the place outside a fast food joint.. And he wasn’t spraying weeds in the dirt parking strips along the street (there actually may not have been any of significance at that point).. but what he was doing was spraying the chemicals on the trunks of the trees lining the street.. Literally, spraying that chemical on tree trunks a full 3-4 feet off the ground.. I thought, “what the?”, and wondered if he even had any idea what he was doing.. Not likely — just a laborer making minimum wage probably, doing what he had to for the fiat numbers.. As I walked down the street and into his vicinity, he looked up at me, and the look on his face said everything — he knew intuitively that what he was doing was wrong, and he was embarrassed, and as an empath I could feel what he was feeling (whether he knew it or not).. it seemed to be a painful experience for him..

But hoping to have some dandelions in my patio pot that I can turn into a solar-infused flower medicine.. I’d prefer to not pick them out & about, but I might eventually.. ?

Ooh I will watch!! Do you know of any medicinal herbs that rabbits and squirrels don’t eat? They didn’t touch my lemon balm last year but they bothered all my veggies.

I always have the Bach flower rescue remedy on hand and I use the pet one cuz it tastes better!

Oh nice.. Thanks for the website!.. And here’s Katie’s website, Lotus Wei..

      https://www.lotuswei.com/

I haven’t gotten around to looking at it yet, but I’m excited to take her Flower Quiz, as well as learn how to make solar-infused flower essences of my own.. She said water and alcohol (for preservation) and put it in the sun to infuse solar energy and vibe on the consciousness of the flower.. I’m gonna need specific instruction, and I hope her website elucidates on that.. I’m all over it.. ?

I don’t know much on animal deterrence, but I’m still learning.. My hunch, or first thought, is anything in the mint family with a strong aroma or potent essential oil content would be a good place to start.. Lemon Balm is a mint member, as well as Lavender & Rosemary.. I saw recently how “anise hyssop” (botanical name Agastache) is a deer deterent.. I can imagine planting a fence of Agastache around a garden to keep the deer away, as they avoid it, and probably wouldn’t cross the boundary.. Maybe such a strategy would work for the smaller critters, maybe search out mint members and see what strikes you, maybe a low-growing plant, at the level of smaller critters..

(Oh, and the “anise hyssop” I saw referenced was Agastache foeniculum, specifically — photo below.. It’s also worth mentioning that there are all sorts of Agastache species, all of which are quite aromatic with different types of oils, often reminiscent of anise)..

Flower essences is a very powerful & underrated tool in holistic medicine. In German Auricular Medicine, Dr. Frank Bahr mapped out the exact essences that were associated to psychological points on the ear. There is much versatility with flower essences as it can get be used for treating ancestral wounds as well as collective miasms. I’m very much new to learning about them but I know it is worth going deep into. Thanks for sharing can’t wait to listen to this episode!

P.S if you are interested in some of the essences used to treat soul trauma Dr. Bahr has a book that was just recently translated in english from german. I’ll drop the link, the book itself is more so a guide for who folks practicing german auricular medicine but nevertheless it’s worth checking out if you are interested in which specific flower essences as he uses Bach Flower, Californian Essences, and Australian Bush Flower. Also really good case studies and pictures.

    Thanks Kev!

I love Lotus Wei, have been using their products for several years now and have definitely noticed a shift in subtle but powerful ways. I feel softer, calmer, more peaceful, grounded and much more resilient. They’ve helped me to really tap into and listen more to my body’s inner wisdom and knowing of things, and to trust myself more. It’s like they have become my greatest ally and support system. I think I’ve tried just about every blend, my favorites are boundless wisdom, true strength, sacred body, wild abundance, expansive presence and luscious embodiment.

In addition to their quiz, this blog post, WHAT YOU MIGHT BE FEELING & FLOWERS FOR IT, is a good place to start for anyone wanting to try their blends out.

And that’s awesome about your body intuitively planting calendula seeds, love that! 🙂

So great to see a chat thread on Flower medicine! I was introduced to Bach flowers early on through the direct European Bach lineage and have used them intensely ever since.

Bach himself preferred the topical application of Flower Essences vs oral drops, and over the years I’ve found this to be preferable as well. Additionally, different topographical neurological zones can be paired with various FE for even greater efficacy.

I’m quite familiar with the work of Dr. Bahr, but there are so many clinically variations from one individual to another that I’ve found it impossible to manage a case based on any limited categorizations by correlating a particular essence to a treatment point or issue.

I like to triangulate any tx protocol with a combination of Neuro-kinetic feedback (neurological-based kinesiology), the Vascular Autonomic Signal (VAS), radiasthesia, labs (yes, emotions can be discerned from lab assays!) and a number of other exam parameters.

Any such comprehensive analysis must necessarily be open-ended to accommodate the unlimited possibilities in any case.

I created a more recipe-based approach to Flower Essences for the general public within the context of the Enneagram along with a product line of topical essences. They are in a transdermal carrier medium and combine various Flower Essences with Essential oils to more efficiently open the portals, so to speak.

I’ve been using these successfully for awhile and had intended to make these available, but we’ll see. In the process I began developing site pages for each of the Enneagram points (see attached for Enneagram Pt. 1 example), so people could begin familiarizing themselves with both Flower Essences and Enneagram fundamentals.

One final note concerning the use of Flower Essences; in the practice of Bioterrain Medicine Flower Essences often prove to be an invaluable tx catalyst, and I’ve witnessed incredible effects through just their use alone.

Hey barre.. Thanks for chiming in, and thanks for the Enneagram charts.. Downloaded..

After reading your comment, I feel strongly compelled to share an experience I had just this week with my new kinesiologist, which was our second meeting.. You originally referred me to AK for an inguinal hernia.. After my first session with him, the inguinal canal tightened up quite a bit, and I made a big move in the right direction, where sometimes I’m not getting the intestinal protrusion downwards and things are moving back to staying intact.. but not always, and so I’m not fully there.. His overall assessment was that my digestive system, simply put, is out of whack and inflammed and stagnant, with slight hiatal herniation (which is true and evidenced by occasional mild reflux).. He gave me dietary guidelines — including going more carnivore, with animal protein not combined with carbs, and minimizing carbs generally, especially the grass family of grains.. This has been a helpful shift, and very satisfying..

In our second session, his overall assessment was basically the same, regarding chronic GI inflammation and the need to lower stomach pH and optimize bile quality and getting things moving.. It’s not easy to describe the work he does, but I did vaguely follow it, as he was going here and there, seeming to be guided by his own assessments along with way, if that makes any sense.. Various muscle testings, and abdominal work, as well as little jars of tablets that he had me hold in my hands, or laid on my solar plexus at certain points during the session.. The session culminated with him digging into my solar plexus (where I had surgery in 1983 for a hernia, actually, that I was born with, and which has been difficult for me ever since).. It led to a profound and fulfilling emotional-trauma release that he really helped me through brilliantly.. Have never experience such a thing, and this is exactly where I’m intending to go..

And so that evening (while trying not to be too graphic here), I experienced a digestive purge that led me to realize what was in those little jars of tablets.. They were homeopathics, I believe, and the purpose was to give me an imprint so that whatever toxins were released (from miasms they’re called?) would be properly flushed from my body.. That was my impression from my experience and what I picked up with my senses during the purge.. If I’m generally correct on the mechanisms of this, I have to say, just wow — so tangible and so fulfilling, and with precision too.. But I’ve also come to wonder, with this flower medicine coming on my viewscreen this week, if some of those essences he had me interact with in the jars were flower essences as well perhaps..

Am I correct on those having been homeopathic preparations, and is there a possibility they were flowers as well??.. I didn’t even ask him.. I’ll follow-up next time for sure..

      Thanks for reading.. ?

        Hey Kev

So happy to hear of your progress! There are many classifications of homeopathics ie. single remedies, constitutionals, nosodes, homachords etc. each with a different rationale, but all capable of by-passing the biochemical due to the dilution process leaving only an energetic imprint. That’s what makes them effective to more purely address the etheric levels. Flower Essences are prepared differently thru a natural percolation of flowers in water & sunshine sans the dilution/succussion method for homeopathy. I’d ask your doctor to elaborate on the remedies that he’s prescribed for you, as effects are enhanced whenever there is a more conscious use of any modality and allows a more active participation in the process.

Helpful reflections there, Barre.. Thank you for the info.. He didn’t actually prescribe anything beyond dietary guidelines and whole food supplements, mostly for the liver..

As far as intentionality goes — that is largely his doing during our sessions, and I simply pick up on it, surrender, and go with it, or “vibe with it”, as someone might say.. And so it is a collaboration in that way.. In retrospect, I can see how he was intentionally looking for what he found, through his discovery process, and the way he was switching out the jars of essences at various points, seemingly with specific intentions.. And when he eventually got to the door, he said “there it is”, and then talked me through the release.. He knew where to go and what he was looking for.. I’m still a little bit in awe.. ?

But yeah, next time I’ll get the skinny on what’s in them little jars.. ?‍♂️

I just purchased my first flower essences from LotusWei. I went with the vertical stacking of 3 remedies Katie recommends on her website: Joy Juice elixir, wild abundance mist and expansive presence anointing oil. Haven’t arrived yet but will share my experience once I’ve been using them for a bit!

I also recently purchased a very affordable yearly membership to Lauren Hubele’s course/private platform on Gemmos as that is an area I’m very interested in these days as well, thanks to learning of them from Barre and ADV. she is a great resource for anyone looking to learn more about Gemmos.

Might anyone here have a recipe for making a flower essence extract??.. I understand it’s water & alcohol & steeped in the sun.. I don’t wanna go looking online, because the internet is a bunch of nonsense when it comes to find such specific information.. I’d rather learn from someone who’s done it.. or, at the very least, a very specific reference to someone who has a recipe, where I don’t have to go search for hours & hours & hours and not find what I’m looking for..
