ElinParticipantBeen researching this, and it looks very solid! I AM engaging in this program starting on today’s new moon/new lunar year. Intention: see clearly without glasses; heal the slight beginnings of cataracts and macular degeneration. https://holisticvisionprogram.teachable.com/p/holisticvisionprogram/
Will keep y’all posted!

Sue KittrellMemberI have heard it is good. I have the intention of better eyesight as well and healing those conditions. I have not been consistent with the eye exercises. I am now taking the DMSO eye drops. A friend told me macular is a vitamin A deficiency and glaucoma is a vitamin C deficiency. I’d love to hear anyone else’s thoughts as well.

CristinaMemberI’ve been making my way through Nathan Oxenfeld’s book about the Bates method for healing the eyes and improving vision. It’s a very thorough book. I’m finding it difficult to find the time to do all of the exercises required to help me see better, though. Like most things that are worth while, it takes time, effort and patience. I’m 47 and never had eye problems until a couple years ago, when it became difficult to see things close up and I started seeing black spots here and there when there really wasn’t anything. My job requires me to look intently at a monitor for several hours a day, so I’m sure that has something to do with it. 🙂 I’m determined to not wear glasses, so I guess that means I get to go on a healing journey. I’m looking forward to sharing ideas and results with all of you here.

AlisaMemberCristina, I am in a similar situation. Early forties. I refuse to wear glasses, except in my case, it would be again. I had laser surgery done for my far vision more than 10 years ago. (Did not know about that DMSO healing mentioned below. Good thing I didn’t try it). Now I have trouble with the close up reading and those black spots that I thought had something to do with trying to sun gaze in the tropics (it just might).
I have experienced some healing of the spots by applying castor oil nightly to my eyelids. I am going to have them gone entirely soon.
I use pinhole glasses when they are on hand and I need to read fine print. I expect to heal my sight entirely so I’m interested in this topic.

maryschurrMemberI wish I could take the DMSO drops. I had Lasik back in ’98 and if I take the drops it will undo (heal) the results of that surgery. My close up vision is great, but now my distance is not quite as good as it was. I just turned 63yrs, so I’m not complaining too much. I thought Amandha said you could use the drops or DMSO on the skin near the eyes and it would not undo the results of the surgery, but I’m not 100% on that…would hate to guess at something like that.
Anyone looked into Jacob Liberman? “Take off your glasses and see”? Did AV do an interview with him?
There is also Dr. Sam Berne as well. His site has lots of good videos and free instructions.
Can’t wait to hear the results from everyone!!! ??

ErinMemberInteresting, I thought ADV said not to use the DMSO eye drops if you had surgery for cataracts or macular degeneration as the artificial plastic lens will be deteriorated by the DMSO. I thought it was safe to use if you’ve had LASIK. I had LASIK myself many years ago and just started using the 20% DMSO drops. Only have used them for 2 days, but I better make sure it’s safe to use before I continue using any more. Mary, do you have a link to a video or article where ADV specifically says not to use if you’ve have LASIK? I recently listened to a Q&A she did with Alec Zeck as part of my Way Forward membership, and she did say you could put the drops on your eyelids for transdermal absorption if you had cataract or macular degeneration surgery, but she didn’t mention LASIK.

maryschurrMemberIt is on ADV’s website under her blog if you search for Lasik. She has a post and video on cataracts and it is under Q & A.
Q-Can you you use the drops if you have had Lasik?
You can and I have known people who did but keep in mind that the LASIK on purpose makes one eye a little bit slightly different than the other eye and the DMSO drops could heal that difference. Although, I haven’t heard any negative feedback to date about any problems. Here is the page, but you do have to create a membership with her to view her site. I think it is either free or $1. She only operates in the private.
My concern was if it heals then I am afraid it will heal my “scars” or the laser cuts to shape my eye and then “heal” or change my vision back to what it was previously. I may not be understanding this correctly, but that is my concern. Seems she posted something on Telegram, but I haven’t found it yet. I looked through her book and nothing there about it. I’m not miserable with my current eyesight, so I am hesitant to do the drops. If I had it to do over again I would have probably skipped the Lasik, given all I know now, but….oh well. I was lucky, I worked with ophthalmologists for about 17yrs so the surgeries were free for me.

maryschurrMemberI just came across on AV’s Telegram channel regarding cataracts and came to share it. Wheatgrass! In a post from Sayer on GreenMedInfo.
PS-I’m can’t remember where Amandha said this, but it stuck with me since I have had Lasik in both eyes. I’ll see if I can search for it, but perhaps Mike may remember?

Kathy MMemberThanks for posting Elin, I’m reading Jacob Liberman’s book, “Take off Your Glasses and See”, likely a great primer for a course like this. I started with Bates back in my 20’s, however like many things it fell off my priority list 😉 Now in my 60’s wanting to ditch the glasses and improve my myopic vision, which has not digressed too much over the years. I’m spending the majority of my time with glasses off. My current lifestyle (we are in europe using public transport) I’m not driving a car much, it seemed like a good time. I’m excited to look at it.

GiseleMemberme too glasses off at home and outside as much as possible. still using it for driving especially when i park underground in my condo. when in full day sun can do without. . my prescription is not 20/20 using one for computers( i did that 20 years ago) this way my eyes are not as lazy.
The other thing that helps me if I use the goggle with the brown’s gas. when i do that for quite a few days , i notice a great improvement.
i will try to get back to a routine of it for 20 mins as I really want less and less glasses. i just have to be more diligent in my routine-
February 10, 2024 at 7:23 pm #382878
maryschurrMemberIt’s so easy to get distracted from these things, but love what you have been doing. They do say to under correct with your prescription, so what you are doing sounds good. My issue is not enough time outside looking at distances and too much time with close up work (computer and phone). Like many things, if you don’t use it…you lose it…it applies to distance vision in my case.,

tanyaMemberWanted to chime in that sun gazing can also help improve eye health, including near and far sightedness, migraines, cataracts, etc. This video by Hira Manek has some helpful tips if you’ve never done it before, but essentially it’s 1 hour before sunrise or sunset, and start with 10 seconds max and increase by 10 seconds everyday, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D_ERDxxzvQE
Also this month in Lotus Wei’s Flower Revolution program, we’re working with the chicory flower elixir, it’s meant to be a powerful flower for removing the cause of poor vision and/or deteriorating vision, with the root cause being not wanting to see something that’s happening in our life. Chicory helps open locked doors and uproot/dissolve emotional patterns, helping you to see your blindspots and notice what you are resistant to seeing or avoiding; not seeing clearly leads to literally not seeing clearly. In metaphysical/metaphorical terms, this flower can literally remove the film from our eyes so that we can see clearly. (Katie Hess).

GeraldMemberBeen working on improving my eyes naturally as well. I struggle when it comes to regular applications or practice, but have noticed minor improvements when I remain diligent with them. I’ve off and on used DMSO drops as well as urine. Was unaware of the potential Lasik issues with DMSO. I’m not particularly worried about that though as I’m 18ish years removed from my procedure and it has already pretty much worn off. I’ve been back in reading glasses for 10 years now.
Recently I’ve starting putting castor oil on my eyelids at night and have noticed that helps too. Would also add for consideration the liver connection. Traditional Chinese Medicine links our eyes to the liver. Would seem to me that ongoing detox protocols, for both the iver and the body as a whole, would also contribute to an improvement in vision. It’s all connected!

maryschurrMemberI do feel that the caster oil on the lids is beneficial for dry eyes, I’ve tried that, too. I’ve not been diligent with the eye exercises either, but I keep trying to get back into a routine. I do think morning sunlight helps. I’ve not tried the DMSO drops, but considered rubbing in on my skin an inch or so away from my eye. You didn’t notice a difference either way from using the drops? My Lasik has held up for close up, but distance is off a little bit. But, it’s been about 24 years now…

GeraldMemberI think the drops have helped to a degree. My vision has not drastically improved, but I have noticed that the floaters I had seem to have disappeared. Since I’ve tried a few things, I can’t say it was the DMSO outright, but I certainly think it contributed.

KevMemberI’ve considered using DMSO for the eyes, but not sure on what concentration to use (especially after having a negative experience with DMSO internally).. Have moreso considered using urine for the eyes.. That would be my first choice, but again, just a bit hesitant on how to do it, if I should dilute it or not.. (But dilution probably a good place to start to ease into it).. I already use urine therapy, which includes fermented-aged urine.. I successful cleared a case of skin cancer by going all-in with the urine.. (Well, what they call “cancer”).. Can’t imagine I would ever give up urine at this point.. I’ve found it’s one of the best and easiest things you can do for your health.. So my question is, how did you use it as eye drops?.. Fresh and diluted, or straight??..

GeraldMemberWow! You have a “cancer” success story from UT? That’s incredible to hear, though I’m in no way surprised. Topical and internal? I’d love to hear more about that. How long did it take, etc? UT is a daily practice for me and has been for the past few years. It’s real!
To that, UT is the eyes is easy. I’ve found that any urine is fine, though like DMSO, aged will sting for a few seconds, but then goes away. No lingering issues in my experience. Fresh urine is extremely gentle on the eyes. As you probably know by now, the longer it ages, the more alkaline it becomes. I’ve heard it said that aged urine is the only highly alkaline substance that will not actually burn or damage your tissues. In my personal experience, that appears to be true, but don’t take that as a definitive statement. I haven’t tried 8-9 month aged in the eyes, so can’t say for sure.
As for DMSO drops, when I first tried them I was using Amandha Vollmer’s drops. More recently, I have made my own. My process was to just add a few drops to an eyedropper bottle that I had filled with fresh urine. Best of both worlds! Is this where I should say “this is not medical advice”? lol. That’s just what I’ve tried, right or wrong, with no deleterious effects.
Back to UT, I’ll also add a personal anecdote. Last summer while doing some weeding, I accidentally turned my head directly into a shrub which scratched my cornea. Reluctantly, but for peace of mind, I went to an eye doctor to make sure it was ok. He confirmed I scratched it pretty good and he prescribed me some anti-fungal and anti-biotic drops. I used them for 1 day, then just switched to urine instead. When I went back in a week for a follow-up, he was floored at how quickly the scratch was healing and asked if I was still using the drops. I just said yes because I didn’t feel like getting into UT debate with a doctor who I could sense would not be onboard with it. UT for the win yet again. And this is just one of my UT success stories!
-
March 7, 2024 at 9:09 pm #385451
KevMemberNice, brother, niiice.. Not at all surprised the cornea scratch healed so quickly.. The only “doctor” I’ve shared my UT with is a kinesiologist I started seeing recently.. That’s such a complex and integrated picture, it’s difficult to go into.. But since it was a matter of getting my nervous system and meridians going in the proper ways, it was important to share everything, at least related to the nervous system.. The skin cancer popped up on my spine, and a bunch of nerve issues occurred at the same time, like constant numbing in my hands, and so many other things wrapped in a big picture.. He had to know what I was doing, so I laid it all out.. But he’s also a talented energy healer in a tangible way, so he gets it..
As far as the skin cancer goes.. That itself is a big story.. Wuff, that’s been a big transformation and empowering chapter for me.. The cancer initially appeared as a crusty plaque that grew on my back (about 5 inches in diameter), and eventually developed deep purple spots that began to grow very rapidly.. Again, a bit of a longer story, but at that point I was deflated, not knowing what to do.. Then the Alfacast with Erik Cassano from 2 years ago popped up on my screen.. Watched it, then knew exactly what to do.. At that point I had been experimenting a bit already with UT and uro-sunbathing, and have a buddy Down Under I compare notes with.. So it wasn’t a stretch to fully take the plunge.. Or should I say, drop a nuke.. And I did in fact drop a nuke.. I wasn’t messin’ around.. Lol.. I absorbed several presentations by Amandha over the next 24 hours after listening to Erik.. And at that point I had enough info to get started, then dropped the nuke.. Started fermenting immediately, and every dose I take/took always has ferment in it, and at one point I was drinking about 90% of my output during the day.. The purple spots on the plaque cleared out in under 2 weeks, and overall the plaque at this point (after 4 months) is barely perceptible..
I should tell you I went through an intense detoxification.. Really intense at times, including bowel flushing, some dizziness (for lack of a better word), as well as pustules that popped up all over my body every day – and they were deep pockets/pools of puss where my body was responding to whatever needed to be dealt with and pulled out of the body.. (Again, such a long health story after 53 years, yes?).. One of the turning points was when my body demanded I stop eating and do a urine fast for a while.. I did it for 48 hours, never felt hunger, and experienced some sort of metamorphosis.. It was an intense 2 days, involving 13 hours of sleep at night, fierce headaches, etc.. Many people think a long-term urine fast is ideal, especially with cancer, but I didn’t go long-term.. Still open to such a thing whenever I feel it needs to happen..
I never went to a professional, but rather dealt with it myself.. I realized and declared at one point that it was the greatest gift offered to me.. and why?.. because it empowered me to take charge of my life and health like I could have only imagined, and I began not to “fight a battle”, but rather to act as the gatekeeper-in-charge.. (And there’s some other jokes in there as well about being the Dragon that sits on his throne, etc..).. Lol.. Needless to say, the past 4 months have been about unwavering vigilance and not stepping down and not having an ounce of fear.. Not one bit.. It’s been a mind-bending gift of empowerment and centering, I tell ya.. And knowing that I myself created this challenge, well, there you go.. Full embrace and no victimhood..
Once I went to my naturopath, he confirmed it was “cancer” and just affirmed what I was doing and cheered me on.. (And he also told me a story about how one of his Chinese Medicine professors had a buddy that was in a coma in the hospital for 3 months — he snuck some urine out of his urine catch bag with a plastic syringe, when the nurses weren’t looking, then squirted it into the feeding tube into his stomach.. The dude woke up in 2 minutes)..
And yes, during this period, the urine has been both topical and internal.. I do a daily bath with ferment.. Incredible feeling when the fermented urine interacts with the cancer plaque – the cancer kinda recoils, and I can feel the action going on.. And if you have skin sores, they heal rapidly.. Plus now I don’t take conventional water showers more than once per week.. Don’t need to.. Topical urine balances the biome on the skin, and it’s quite lovely actually.. When I do water showers, it messes up my skin and throws it out of balance again.. In the past 4 months, I’ve only gone 5 days without a daily uro-bath.. (And actually, my first uro-bathing was naked sunbathing last summer in full blazing afternoon sunlight.. My buddy in Oz said “you will feel like a god”.. He was about right!).. Lol.. I recommend it!.. ☀
And wow, you’ve had aged urine last 8-9 months??.. The most I’ve gone is just under 2 months.. Pisses me off when the urea converts to ammonia.. Ugh.. Especially when there’s a good cloud of ormus at the bottom of the jar.. Such a waste.. Lol..
Speaking of ormus, it was Erik Cassano that inspired me to add fermented urine to my kombucha batches.. Can’t hurt, can only help, and I have seen some interesting things happen in the jars, as he described.. But I also don’t do his elaborate ormus isolation method.. Just put whole ferment straight in..
At this point, when I’m out & about around the city doing my errands, I take a plastic honey bottle with me (with a no-leak cap), and use that for catching at my various stops during the day.. Yep, I’m that freak taking sips on the bus.. Lol… (Is that way too much TMI?).. ?
Speaking of alkalinity – I bought pH strips but keep forgetting to check the pH of my ferment.. Isn’t it interesting how it doesn’t become funky like you might think, but comes to life and has a really pleasant taste??.. Fascinating too how each batch is characteristically different, depending on what you start with (as urine is constantly different), though sometimes subtle differences.. It’s like a benchmark for what’s going on with you internally in the present time.. At first I thought aged urine might be challenging, but when I learned it was a fermentation, I kinda lit up and got really excited, as I do all sorts of ferments already.. No wonder it replicates stem cells and acts as a force of regeneration – it’s literally alive..
But that’s brilliant, combining urine with DMSO for the eyes.. I’ve considered adding DMSO to the urine I drink, but just haven’t done it.. I wonder if you have any thoughts on the following regarding DMSO.. I bought some that’s “odor-free” and “pharma grade” (whatever that means), and I know it’s not ineffective, because when I was taking it internally, I experienced potent diuresis (this was way back last year).. And, it burned the skin at full strength, so I know it’s not dead DMSO.. I heard Amandha say odorless DMSO was a gimmick and to avoid it.. You want the stuff that makes you taste sulfur in your mouth or whatnot.. Any thoughts on that??.. But, I think if I ever use DMSO again, which I might, the best bet is that I should buy from Amandha, for assured quality.. One of my intentions is to return my eyesight to normal, so I don’t wear glasses.. Glasses aren’t necessary or normal, no matter what they’d have you think.. So next step – urine eyedrops.. Yay!! ?
Well, that’s my UT story.. I know, brief, right??.. Lol.. Thanks brother for touching base on this and being curious.. Has been a bit of a lone story for me.. Glad and happy to share.. I’m honored by your support.. ?

maryschurrMember@KWayne , thank you for sharing all this! We all learn from each other. Did you do anything else topically for your cancer outside of UroBaths and taking it internally? Just curious how that might work.

March 13, 2024 at 8:03 pm #385990
KevMemberHey Mary!.. Thanks for asking.. The plaque on my back formed and grew in size over about 3-4 months before it started developing deep purple spots, which was the point at which I knew what it was, while having no idea up to that point.. So up til then I was applying topical Tea Tree oil and Calendula tincture (it’s just what I had on-hand and thought why not?).. Both of those are astringent and draw moisture, so I experienced tightening of the tissue and it oozed fluid.. In the end, those things didn’t halt the progression of the situation.. Then when it was clearly cancerous, and I put 2 & 2 together, I only used fermented urine topically going forward.. From October 31st to March 13th, I’ve applied at least once a day, missing only about 5 to 6 days..
As I said, with the topical plus internal, and hitting it really hard, the purple spots cleared out in about 2 weeks, and then the bright pinkish-red color of the overall plaque began to fade over time, along with the size (this was relatively quick as well).. At one point, the clearing seemed to halt, or plateau, or really slow down, but I was diligent, and then there was a second wave of clearing.. At this point, I can barely see the plaque in the mirror, and an unsuspecting eye wouldn’t notice anything.. But I do feel it back there, with a sort of “tightness” in the skin, so something’s still present.. But I continue to drop bombs on it.. I have no doubt it will be entirely cleared and gone eventually..
But with that said, I already consider it a done deal..
Hope that helps.. ?

GeraldMemberSo, several weeks later… ? …
I’m in no way surprised by the efficacy of your UT cancer application. You mentioned Eric Cassano. He was one of the first voices to introduce the concept to me years ago when he was on Troy Casey’s channel. (Certified Health Nut). His UT/Cancer healing journey will forever be etched in my mind. And now yours as well! To that, your’s has inspired me as well. I’ve refused to wear sun screen for most of my adult life, and as a landscaper/gardener, I’m always out in the sun. Over the past year I began to notice a dark spot developing on my cheek. Always considered what it “could be”, but never really worried about it. (I still don’t) But since you shared your story, I have begun diligently applying a DMSO/aged urine/castor oil treatment daily. It’s been roughly two weeks now and I can already tell it’s beginning to lighten up. ?
I suppose we should start a UT thread since this is supposed to be about eyesight.?
-
March 25, 2024 at 10:31 am #386803
KevMemberHa!.. Yeah, a UT thread might be a good idea.. should we cut & paste the current conversation into it to get it going?.. Lol..
Very pleased to hear about the spot on your face lightening up.. Yay!.. You will be successful, no worries, and I’m beaming positive sine waves your direction.. I started applying DMSO topically (for other things), and ordering good castor oil today.. But that might be another thread as well.. Lol..
But hey, back on the topic of eye health.. Haven’t tried urine in the eyes yet, but I’m lookin’ to start sun-gazing.. Sunrise is not possible in my neighborhood (no unobstructed view), but I do have good sunsets off my balcony — well, close to actual sunset, when the sun dips below the buttes on the other side of the river.. Soon as we got some clear skies, gonna give that a try — start with about 2 seconds of looking at the sun, see how that goes.. ☀
Good to hear from ya, brother.. ?

KevMemberYeah, I’m looking forward to it!.. We’ve been overcast & rainy here for quite some time, so no opportunity yet.. also thinking of scouting the neighborhood to see if I can’t find that one unique spot where there’s a clear view of the general direction of east.. but not likely — typical urban neighborhood — houses packed together & tree-lined streets.. We’ll see.. It’s a mission.. ?
It sound like you sun-gaze.. If you already mentioned that, I’ve forgotten.. But if so, how long are you worked up to??..
-
March 25, 2024 at 1:22 pm #386815
ElinMemberI’ve done it off and on for a couple of years maybe, but got more serious about it with my eye program. Closed eye gazing also works! .. and even on a cloudy day, it’s probably beneficial.
When I can get out within an hour of sunrise to sunset, I enjoy a couple of minutes at this point. I can see new colors around the sun now, too.
With closed eyes anytime of day, I can see really bright colors on my eyelids – usually first a bright royal blue monad, often with gold sparkles, then it washes in to pinks or light greens or sky blue or white.. it’s pretty interesting. Maybe we need a new thread on this, too!

KevMemberIsn’t it interesting — probably most of us at some point have faced the sun with our eyes closed and enjoyed bathing our eyes in the rays.. I know I have.. That’s so energizing and warming and satisfying.. And Todd below gives some techniques for sun-gazing that don’t require looking straight into it.. I like the idea of looking at the sun’s periphery, and moving the eyes around, or back & forth, which will at least get the rays hitting and bathing the whites of the eyes..
And you’re right — the light of the morning is still very important, even on grey and overcast days.. Sarah Kleiner, in the thread about Leptin, talks a lot about ambient light and how it doesn’t have to be direct sun rays.. As long as you’re getting those energies, they’ll help with proper circadian rhythm.. I was also just listening to Gerald Pollack the other day in an interview where he was talking about how the water of our cells is charged and acts as a battery, which is primarily powered by infrared radiation, and how that radiation is everywhere, all the time.. and that times like early morning are very good for those types of energies..
I recently adopted a barefoot walking-in-the-park practice, which is now a daily thing I do at daybreak.. The park is right on the river, so I wade into the water as well.. And while I have sensitive eyes, even in the morning, and habitually wear a ballcap, I take it off, along with my shirt, and bask in the morning light, and cold, and the rain, which is water drops at like 35 degrees.. Lol.. It’s invigorating!.. Wish I had a view of the sunrise at the water’s edge though.. Dang!.. That would be a perfect set-up… ?

KevMemberHey Elin.. Thought I would go back through this thread and refresh my mind on the conversation about sungazing.. I started doing it, and it’s phenomenal the things I’m seeing when I look into the sun, as you allude to there.. Different colors, undulating/vibrating patterns, and the sky opening up and becoming brighter and more colorful and I’m seeing colors in the sky I’ve never seen before..
Had one trippy experience one day when the sky was mostly cloudy with a hazy cloud cover.. It was still a bright day and the sun was shining through the clouds.. It was a situation where the clouds diffused the sunlight and the whole sky around the disk was just really bright.. When the sun was still about 40 degrees in the sky (before sunset), I looked into the spot where the sun was behind the clouds and was able to peer through the clouds into the disk.. It wasn’t hard to look at, and it actually drew me in and kinda captivated me, and I was able to gaze for quite a while.. What I saw was astonishing.. The disc was vibrating in some sort of oscillatory fashion, and the outer perimeter of the disk was like a circular border on the disk and light was circling around the disk like a technological light show of some sort.. Out of this world.. and I’m convinced it’s not what they tell us it is.. Can’t be..
Afterwards, I had a yellow spot in the middle of my vision, so anything I looked at was yellow in color.. I went through the “concern” about such things and just blew threw it, and started repeating “the source of life does not cause harm”.. The yellow spot cleared out in about 10 seconds.. Ha!.. ☀

ElinMemberExactly!! I see the same shimmery silvery sun in there, too. It’s such an interesting thing to look at, and the eyes readjust quickly after looking away from the brightness. I find it helpful to be barefoot in the dirt while doing this. I was actually able to look at the partial eclipse here for a few seconds to see the disc with a curved piece missing.
It’s also fun to look with eyes closed and see the colors projected on your eyelids! I always see a royal blue monad, then it washes out in to other colors. This is also an effective way to sungaze, I think.

KevMemberHmmm, I’ve always seen reddish-orange when looking at the sun with my eyes closed (the light passing through the skin & blood vessels).. But on second thought, I may have never done it facing directly into the disk, though maybe.. That is surely a different experience than just general, bright daylight.. I’mma try that and see what’s up, and especially spend some time in that to see what changes and evolves..
You’ll have to fill me in on what a monad is.. I know I know it, as I have heard that many times, but it slips my mind.. I’m thinking a geometric form, like a cymatic, that emerges naturally, and the sort of thing folks long ago knew all about.. Am I close??..
This morning did sunrise sungazing for a few moments.. Man, when the sun comes up just above the horizon, it is sooo easy.. or, not as challenging as I thought it’d be, at all.. In fact, I’m so drawn in, I have to halt myself, as I know it will be best to ease into this gradually.. It’s so captivating I just wanna go there.. But also — full sun, once it gets above about 10 degrees above the horizon, that’s tough right now, and I can’t do it for more than a split second.. But that sunrise — wuff, that’s good stuff..
Been doing sunsets off my balcony too, where the sun dips behind the buttes across the way at about 15 degrees above the horizon.. That’s a nice light at that point, and once the disk starts to go out a view and become more diffuse, it’s way easy and delightful to see that light and how the sunset colors really light up..

ElinMemberI love that this topic ended up going all over the place! LOL – to get back to the original, though, I’m already noticing improvement in my vision – and I did week 1 lesson for about 3 weeks – and am on week 2 of the six!

Todd & KateMemberThis is a very inspiring discussion, and another one that I’ll be implementing some of the ideas in my own life, for sure. Thanks for sharing your stories with us, Kev & Gerald. I’m focusing my research now on UT, and I’ll be trying out the DMSO/Urine eye drops, and will also see if UT can help ease some itchy skin symptoms I’ve been dealing with for the past several months. … And, I’ll be looking to add chicory flower essence to my life, as well (thanks, Tanya).
Awesome too, Elin, that you’re noticing an improvement already. Nice! Perhaps that’s a sign that you’ve relieved that ciliary spasm (that tends to be the first physical response to regaining eyesight) … I should share a bit of my experience with eyesight improvement here, too, as improving my eyesight has been a huge driving force in my life for the past 20 years. I’ve seen my prescription reduce in half, but I still have a myopia (nearsightedness), and I’ve unfortunately hit a bit of a plateau as of right now.
My tendency has been to try out an idea or program that resonates with me fully until ultimately I lose interest, and then I’ll get re-inspired by another idea or program. I’ve tried more emotional focused techniques, like the late Roberto Kaplan’s method, and also Dr. Liberman’s, which I loved. I also was inspired by Peter Grunwald’s program called, Eyebody, where he uses the Alexander Technique and Pinholes; I did some Bates Method, too; and then I came across Jake Steiner (endmyopia.org), who has tried to adapt better eye habits for today’s computer/information-focused lifestyle. He convinced me that going without glasses can slow down eyesight recovery, and rather to wear undercorrected glasses so that your eyes are on the threshold of blur and clarity, and can more easily work to make images clear. He uses 20/30 or 20/40 glasses as a tool to improve eyesight more efficiently. When his program is working, you’re essentially reordering new lower prescriptions every six months or so until you’re without glasses. … I hate wearing glasses, though (especially outside and in social situations). Because of that I tried out something called Integral Eye Movement Therapy (IEMT), which just basically helped me not hate wearing glasses as much… lol! … And, most recently, Josh Bigelsen inspired me to look in osteopathic eyeglasses, which I’ve found only two D.O’s that can do that, one being Steve Davidson, DO, whose in Phoenix, AZ, and the other being Charles Beck, DO, in Indiana. I went to Dr. Beck, and he adjusted my glasses osteopathically so that wearing my glasses would help unwind my body, which may result in better eyesight. Dr. Beck assumes that the reason I hate wearing glasses is because I’m not wearing the right prescription for my body. The idea is great, but I haven’t seen any improvement yet. The osteopathic glasses not only have to be a super specific prescription, but also the frames have to be adjusted precisely, too, and kept that way. It’s really hard to keep my frames from being knocked out of their alignment. Dr. Beck does do readjustments for free, though.
Anyway, I mention all that just in case any of you were interested in any of those techniques, too, and wanted to hear more about them. The mainstays in my eyesight improvement regimen, though, has been to expose my “naked” eyes to the rising and setting sun, to go without glasses in the early morning, to wear undercorrected glasses whenever glasses are needed, and to always take off my glasses for looking at things up close. And, one tip I always have to remind myself of, distance vision improves by looking into the distance.

maryschurrMemberThank you, Todd! You’ve shared a lot of helpful info. I think a lot of us would like to either improve our vision or maintain our good vision long term. Your last tips are big ones.
Do you walk/travel somewhere so you can see the sun rise (or set) at the time it actually comes above the horizon (such as noted in an Almanac or something similar) or just catch it when it comes into your nearby area/home above the horizon? I hope this makes sense. It takes a bit to get above the trees where I am.

Todd & KateMemberThanks, Mary! That makes sense ?… I’m fortunate to live very near the top of a ridge line where there are no trees to obstruct my view of the horizon line. It’s just a couple minute walk to the top. I have a print out of the sunrise/sunset times for my location that I got from an Agnihotra website. (Agnihotra is an ancient Vedic fire ceremony that’s done at exactly sunrise and sunset) … I love getting those first and last rays of sunlight on my eyes. (My time of birth was at sunrise, too). … There’s times though that I can’t get up to the top of the hill, of course. For those times, I’m at least taking off my glasses and allowing the ambient light into my eyes and skin. … So, if it takes awhile for the sun to get up over the trees at your house, then when possible (or on special occasions, like seasonal transition times, or personal transition times), I would get to a spot that you can see the sun at the horizon; but, when you can’t, it can also be beneficial for your eyes and body to take in the ambient light of the dawn/sunrise/early morning and dusk/sunset/early evening. These are daily transition/threshold times that hold a special quality to them. …
If you’re wanting to sungaze, then you have to start with the sun at or near the horizon. If the sun is too bright by the time you can get eyes on it over the trees (or even if the sun near the horizon is too bright for you to look at directly), then you can do eyes-closed “sunning”. For that you just look up towards the sun with your eyes closed (no glasses). You can then slowly move your face left to right from shoulder to shoulder, and then up and down, too. The next step with sunning is to then blink rapidly while you move your face from shoulder to shoulder. If the sunlight is ever too bright as your moving your face across, then close your eyes the rest of the way across. … You’re basically just trying to increase your tolerance to sunlight. Dr. Bates felt there’s a correlation between your tolerance of sunlight and the health of your eyes. Less tolerance to sunlight equals less healthy eyes, and more tolerance to sunlight equals healthy eyes. He said that people with imperfect eyesight should never look directly at the sun at first, but instead look to one side of the sun, and as they get more and more comfortable with the strong light, they can look nearer to its source, and so on until they become able to look directly at the sun without discomfort. ?

KevMemberWow, Todd, this is very helpful guidance.. I’ve been very strongly pulled to sunrise sun-gazing recently.. I’m not in the best spot to see a clear unobstructed horizon, being urban.. But there is a local bridge over the river just down the street from me that offers great views of sunrise in the general direction of east.. Not the best in terms of surroundings, as I would be standing on the walkway with 4-lane traffic zipping by.. But it is a spot with epic views..
I was thinking of keeping it just simple & basic to start, and I’ve heard others say that at first you should literally only do a couple seconds of sunrise light directly into the eyes, and work up from there.. Is that how you’ve seen others do it??..
And also, what you said about sensitivity to sunlight.. I’ve been relatively sensitive to sunlight since about the age of 20, and was always frustrated I couldn’t wear sunglasses (as I wear prescriptions).. I eventually learned to wear a ballcap.. So now I don’t go outside without a ballcap.. I find that even on relatively overcast days, it’s still bright enough to warrant the cap.. Have always suspected that wasn’t natural — (humans aren’t born with ballcaps) — but have had no idea how to remedy such a thing..

Todd & KateMemberHi Kev! How long to gaze at the sun just depends on the individual’s sensitivity to light, I presume. I’ve heard a Bates teacher tell a story of a man who was so sensitive to light that he had to start out wearing sunglasses and having his back turned to the sun! And, on the opposite end of that spectrum, Dr. Bates said that people with good healthy eyes could look directly into the sun without discomfort (I don’t know any of those people, though!). … I don’t know anyone else yet that has a sungazing practice, so I can’t speak to the question you have personally. I think what you heard about starting out for just a few seconds, and increasing (when ready) from there sounds safe and reasonable.
Dr. Bates had a faster way to gain tolerance of sunlight, though, that I wonder if anyone’s tried or heard success or horror stories of (because I don’t think I’d try it until I heard more about it! Maybe you can ask about it in your class, Elin). Dr. Bates considered sun gazing the slower way to get results! He said “the quickest way to get results from the curative power of sunlight is to focus the direct rays with a strong convex burning glass on the white part of the eyeball when the patient looks far downward [and gently lifting the upper eyelid], carefully moving the light [quite rapidly] from side to side to avoid heat. This may be done for part of a minute at frequent intervals. After such a treatment, the patient almost immediately becomes able to open his eyes widely in the light.” He actually recommends before doing this to do it with the closed eyelids, first though. … So, yeah, any more stories about this technique would be great to hear, as it sounds like it does the trick if it’s done right!
In the meantime, we can do our slow, meditative, short sungazing sessions, all while the world zips past on the highway close by! I like that visual, Kev!

DouglasMemberI started reading this book last week and I have always had a battle with wearing glasses. I allowed it though. As a kid I had a cousin who threw his glasses away and he did not need them until I assume the mind took over again.
Amazing to learn we lose the natural ability of the pupil to move around to look to the other directions as glasses only work well directly through the center.
Cocksuckers they are to take everything and use it for profit but I must be glad for what I caught earlier and work on what I missed now.
I never heard of Bates before reading about it here. Thankfully I read above my glasses. I have a crazy strong script but I stopped getting it changed in 2007. I had a good Optometrist it seems as I needed to see the friggin computer and I did not want two different scripts. I mentioned to him that someone told me that they often put two scripts in contacts. One eye distance and one eye reading/whatever and unknown to me he did this.
I just run that old script and order lenses from China as I prefer glass. Glass do not scratch.
Nonetheless it’s time to learn how to teach the brain how to correct my sight. Yea easy to say and time will tell how hard to do. We all have something and I have great closeup vision. So I need to find a solution to distance seeing.
I thought getting drivers license would be a problem but they don’t give a shit it seems. Create a new photo and they update the license.
That said I avoid driving too much as it seems I am dangerous. Haha. When my friend would not let me drive him to the airport I did not get it right away. Seems people don’t like driving with me.
Haha. ?

KevMemberHey Todd!.. A little update.. Turns out — I don’t need to go out onto the bridge to see the sunrise, at least for most of the year.. Later in autumn and winter, when the sun moves southward, it might be necessary in the extreme.. I discovered that in the park beneath the bridge, I got good views of sunrise soon after it breaks the horizon and tree line.. The park is the lowest part of the neighborhood, so the sun shines down into the area beautifully.. Mapping out the directions of southeast to east by northeast, I should be unobstructed here year round.. Here’s a photo of April 11th sunrise.. ?

KevMemberMan, I’m absolutely loving looking into the sun.. Haven’t done it everyday, especially since it’s often overcast here, but when I do, it’s so captivating and I don’t wanna stop.. but I know as a rookie I need to truncate it and not do too much too soon.. And that early sun (and later sun at sunset) is soooo soothing and easy to gaze into.. Once it gets up to 10 to 15 degrees in the sky though, not so much.. At this point, can’t even glimpse for a split second..
Search out the comment I made somewhere above in response to Elin, about how I gazed into the sun one day when it was high in the sky and behind a cover of hazy clouds.. It was so captivating and I couldn’t stop.. And the things I saw!.. ?
