Since you asked, I’ll kick it off …

Been pondering a while what the function of scratching an itch is. It occurred to me that, since itching according to Chinese medicine is a sign of Heat, that scratching may function to release Heat. Then there’s the overdoing aspect, scratching till an itch gets irritated, raw or even bleeds. But excesses tend to be excessive, eh?

How do you see the Itchy Scratchy relationship, Barre?

Hey Hulda, good to see you here! Not all itches are created equal, and determine whether one should fight the urge or not. With contact dermatitis, such as Poison Oak it’s a no go zone. Non-spreadable itches, bites etc can be temporarily subdued, but I prefer an effective topical that brings immediate relief while expediting shelf life. An amazing essential oil formula consists of Rosemary, Lavender, Savory Thyme, Italian Cypress & Geranium. As luck would have it, such a formula is available through the Belgium company UNDA under the name Solvarome. Old fashioned Sting Stop at the HFS is also effective.

Hi, Barre – great to be on the call again today, and I just launched into your conversation with Beth recently posted – wowzers! A whole bunch to study!

Healing question for you, if I may: Just turned 64 and got the recent diagnosis of early cataracts and macular degeneration. The optometrist says these are irreversible, and I’m thinking: “hold my beer.” ? – What actions/remedies do you recommend for these in general?

      Hi Elin

I’m not Barre (LOL), but I have up front and personal experience with cataracts. I was “diagnosed” with Level 1 ten or so years ago. I’m 72. The last time I went to an ophthalmologist, a couple of years ago, he said they were still Level 1. My secret? I stopped wearing my glasses (near sighted) a few years ago, except when “driving”, and perhaps a year ago I stopped even that, around town anyway. I haven’t even started doing Meir Schneider’s/Dr. Bates’ eye exercises, though been wanting to. (That d.amned law stuff is eatin’ up so much of my time!)

As I’ve heard Barre say, nothing’s irreversible.

Thanks, Hulda! I need reading glasses, but see pretty good in the distance, so I’ve been thinking about reversing that: no glasses except for reading! I’m taking eye supplements and sungazing in the morning… and have written intentions to heal my eyes completely. Love that you are ahead of me to shine light on the path!

When I get something in my eye or otherwise feel I need eyedrops, I use rose petal water. Works like a charm. Stings. The more it stings, the more debris it’s clearing. So said the woman (who has an ayervedic clinic in Sebastopol California) who taught a class on ayervedic care of the eyes at the Northern California Women’s Herbal Symposium at Black Oak Ranch in Mendocino in 2017.

Prior to that I used Boiron Optique. For dry eyes, I think.

Onward and upward! (Or why not downward too? Is down inherently bad?)

Yeah, I have a prescription for reading classes too. And trifocals. I’ve been reading without them for maybe a year or so. These daze it’s out of one eye, as the other, which used to have better vision, is way blurry. Time for Meir Schneider’s eye exercises!

This was one I had missed, I listened yesterday and loved it! So much juicy stuff in this episode. I had just purchased one of Jacob Libermans books this summer, “Take Your Glasses and See”.

Thanks for the recommendation. I love his mind/body approach expanding your eyesight and insight.

Hi Elin! Dr Amandha Vollmer has a blog and products that can help and cure this… My holistic practitioner can help too. lmk if you want her name and number. Gotta see why the body is dropping the calcium into your eyes and she can help you figure that out. This blog is great if you wanna give it a try on your own.

I love ADV – I met her briefly at Flatoberfest even! A recent hair/metals test shows that I have too much calcium – so I’m sure her blog will make total sense! Thanks!
