I gotta say Hank, you are spot on here. I got it pretty bad on the face last year and my urine was by far the best solution for me.

Oh Dorothy, i’m so sorry – how miserable!

When I had it a many years ago, I tried everything (calamine, antihisatmines, prescriptions yada yada) and ONLY thing I found that worked is Zanfel! https://www.zanfel.com/ -after suffering for over a week, I finally came across Zanfel and this cleared it up right away. I would use this whether or not you are on board with hank’s suggestion (personally, I’m not there yet… lol)

Thanks for both your caring and suggestions. I used zanfel and will prob try urine on it tomorrow. I don’t usually turn to pharma. I did get a steroid and benexryl injection and oral prednisone 15 days. I woke up with both eyes swollen shut and whole face and neck swollen- and since was only 3rd day after exposure was pretty scarey. I’ve never know poison oak to be this virulent and am curious if other people hearing about similar experiences .

Lots of good poison oak suggestions from all of you good folks … this is proving to be such a great forum for support & sharing! One additional remedy that I absolutely love is Solvarome from the Belgium company UNDA.

I understand that this thread is for more “after-the-fact” symptoms, but it’s worth looking into preventatives as well. For the more adventurous among you, 100 mg amounts of encapsulated poison oak collected in early Spring taken a few times weekly for several weeks will reset the body for reaction-less future encounters.

And, don’t forget that there is ALWAYS an emotional component to any symptom including contact dermatitis. Poison Oak Flower Essence from the Flower Essence Society (FES) should be considered for issues related to any symptomatic-provoking encounter:

Positive qualities: Positive vulnerability, ability to make contact with others through touch
    Patterns of imbalance:
Fear of intimate contact, protective of personal boundaries; reactive or rejecting in relationships

Oh my, Dorothy! I am so sorry to hear about this. Have you always reacted to poison oak or was this new for you to react this way? Waking up like that is a scary thing for sure!
