Mary, Acupressure.com is the website of Michael Reed Gach, the founder of The Acupressure Institute in Berkeley, where I got my training and the bulk of my certifications. Michael taught the 1st 2 classes I took there. He moved to Maui perhaps 20 years ago. He was a pioneer in bringing acupressure “to the masses”. He sold the school to the deputy director of the school around 2008. At the end of 2013 it closed its doors after some 30 years in existence, crunched by the aftermath of the 2008 “crash”, as well as, so the rumormill sez, poor management.

I was a student at the Acupressure Institute from 2001-2013, a teacher’s assistant for one of the school’s senior instructors from about 2009 to the end, and after the school’s closing when she taught at the Academy of Chinese Culture and Health Science in Oakland and Five Branches University in San Jose. Ah, those were the days!

@Hulda, Did/do you know Joseph Carter who did some of the online classes as well? I believe he is in Berkeley now?

It’s a great school. I had a feeling you would be familiar with it. Hoping Dr. Barre is with the Maui connections now for the online school.

Yes I know Joey, uh Joseph while he was director of the school. Took a class with him too. I knew all the characters there. Where do you know Joey from?

Ah, I just reread you previous post and think I understand. I don’t know any of them personally, but took Michael’s online training version several years ago. He is wonderful!

Joseph did a bit of instruction in one of the courses, but I forget now which one. The other 2 plus Michael did the rest with Michael doing most of it. He put together a nice online version where you were able to download the videos as well as separate audio versions, too.

They are all listed in the link I posted, but most of them are in Maui, except for Joseph. I’d never looked up the others’ websites to learn about them until today and found it interesting. Was guessing that the Landos might know some of them from their Maui days.
